We've seen a notable surge in demand for new low-rise homes across the GTA, thanks in large part to the recent HST rebate program. Buyers are showing renewed interest in this segment, and builders have responded with a steady release of new low-rise inventory. This healthy supply has helped keep the market balanced and curbed runaway price increases—something I pay close attention to when advising clients on both buying and selling strategies.
Meanwhile, the condo market hasn’t fully shared in this momentum, mainly due to construction timing rules that limit access to these incentives. It’s an area where many industry leaders, myself included, hope to see further support so all buyers can benefit. Importantly, although gross prices weren’t adjusted for the rebate, qualifying purchasers are seeing real savings at closing, making homeownership more accessible in the GTA. Initiatives like this don’t just ease affordability—they also help strengthen our region’s economy and safeguard jobs. As someone who’s guided hundreds of families through these shifting landscapes, I remain focused on maximizing client results, no matter the market segment.
